Le Meridien Saigon is a luxurious and modern hotel located next to the Saigon River, Ho Chi Minh City. It has 343 spacious and well-appointed guest rooms and suites with stunning views of the city skyline or Saigon River.
Booking
When I first booked Le Meridien Saigon, I booked it with cash, though that was a mistake. Because I was able to book it for more than the average Marriott point value for a points stay. After I found that out, I cancelled my cash reservation and booked it with points.
I used 13,200 Marriott points on the day I stayed. For cash, a standard room is 4.9M VND including tax(207USD), so the stay with points that day would be worth about 1.57 cents/point (USD).
According to the 2023 Hotel Points Value Chart, this stay was almost twice the value of a points redemption, so we changed to a points stay.
Check-in
We had stayed at Renaissance Saigon the day before and decided to call a Grab cab, which was within walking distance but too hot in the daytime sun.
As soon as we got off the Grab cab in front of the entrance, a doorman came to us and took us to the reception desk while carrying my luggage. The hotel lobby was stylish and modern design, with a large tower standing next to the reception desk. It was perhaps a mock-up of the Eiffel Tower. The receptionist thankfully recognized me as a Marriott Titanium member, and we went straight to the lounge on the top floor to check in. Although we arrived an hour earlier than check-in time, there was no wait to check in and we had a juice in the lounge before heading to our room.
Privileges as a member of Marriott Titanium
- Lounge Access
- Room Upgrade
- Complimentary Breakfast for Two
- Early Check-in/Late Check-out
1 King Bed River View Guest Room
I had reserved a king bed city view room on the on points, but thankfully with my Titanium membership, I got a room upgrade and got a river view room with club lounge access. And the room is on the same 22nd floor as the club lounge, which is convenient for lounge access.
The interior is modern and sophisticated, and I feel the atmosphere is similar to that of Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu.
The room has a view of the Saigon River and Ho Chi Minh City’s iconic Landmark81, but no much Wow factor. However, the sunrise from across the river is worth seeing.
In the drawer, coffee and tea(Dilmah) set were provided.
It was functional large bathroom with bathtub and shower separated.
Toothbrushes, mouth wash, shower caps, vanity kit, comb and body cream were provided.
Facility
The pool is not large, but the view from the pool is not bad with the Saigon River and landmark 81. The other thing is that the pool is shaded at all times except in the morning, so it won’t get too hot.
There is a sauna and steam room in the dressing room, which will surely help you relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
I have been to many Le Meridien and was amazed at the gym here. It is not a large gym, but it has multiple functional machines and a wide variety of cardio machines. And there are also free weights, so you can do any kind of workout you want.
Evening Cocktails at Club Lounge
The lounge is located on the 22nd floor, the same floor as the rooms.
The window seats seemed to be very popular and were already filled when I visited at the time evening cocktails were starting. The lounge may be smaller and have fewer seats, since it was full 30 minutes after evening cocktails began and there were no seats available for latecomers.
There is a wide selection of alcohol including beer, spirits, and wine, and cocktails are served by friendly staff.
We had reservations at a nearby Ippudo for dinner after evening cocktails, so we didn’t get too many hot meals or desserts. But the hot meals were so popular that they ran out quickly and the staff was quickly replenishing them.
Breakfast
Breakfast was a buffet of Vietnamese, Korean, and Western cuisine at Secret Recipe.
From breakfast you can get grilled sea bass, beef, chicken or roast pork, which is more than satisfying. The beef pho was also great, and I was impressed with the pho, taste is really different that I have had before, I love it
However, the kimchi was too sour, and the miso soup we had last night was quite bland. I would not recommend having Korean or Japanese food here.

Le Meridien Saigon bottom line
Overall, I was very satisfied with the service, breakfast, staff, and fitness center.
However, since the hotel opened in 2015, the property and some of the furniture are a bit dated, and the small lounge can be crowded at times. If you are planning to explore Ho Chi Minh City, the Marriott properties, Sheraton and Renaissance are closer to the city center and are more convenient.
