The Miri Marriott Resort & Spa is located about a 15-minute drive from Miri Airport, outside the central business district and surrounded by large gardens. Most rooms offer spectacular views of the South China Sea!
Booking
There are few Marriott group hotels in Sarawak, and this Miri Resort is one of the few.
The price for a standard room was very attractive at 178 rm. 10,000 points for a points stay and according to the 2022 hotel points value table, cash is a way better value than points, so of course I booked with cash!
Check-In
The building doesn’t look new, but the atmosphere makes you feel like you’re at a resort.
Checked in at the front desk with a view of the ocean. Check-in went smoothly as there were few other guests, and there were many chairs, so there was no problem even if it was crowded.
The benefits of the Titanium membership included free breakfast and one alcoholic beverages or juices at any restaurant or bar in the resort.
Ocean Suite Room
The room is 76 square meters in size and has a living room and a bedroom.
The living room balcony offers a spectacular view of the South China Sea.
And what’s more, the sunset from the balcony is the best!
You can enjoy the seaview even from the large king-size bed.
On the cabinet, a coffee and tea set were provided.
The bathroom was warm in color and had a shower stall and a bathtub.
Toothbrushes, shower caps, sanitary bags, combs, nail files, body cream, mouthwash, and vanity kits were provided, but strangely enough, the brands were not standardized!
Facility
The largest swimming pool in Sarawak!
The main pool as well as the children’s pool are large and have slides!
No beach in front of the hotel, but there is a beach within walking distance.
The gym seemed to be open to the public and had a variety of gym machines!
Dinner at the Zest
We decided to have dinner at zest, the resort’s only restaurant!
When you order, bread is served.
Mushroom and pumpkin soup was disappointing, not very flavorful nor creamy.
Seafood Marinara
The black pepper lamb was a very satisfying dish, the flavor soaked into the lamb!
Breakfast
Breakfast is buffet style at Zest, with a choice of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Continental dishes.
There was also a local dish, chicken pandan, which was excellent!
