Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa is located on the island of Furanafushi in North Male’ Atoll, overlooking the neighboring islands and a 15-minute boat ride from the Velana International airport.
A 5-star luxury hotel with a village atmosphere and 176 rooms ranging from beach cottages to Sheraton Maldives’ iconic over-water bungalows.
Booking
As the third oldest resort in the Maldives, its history dates back to 1937. Just completed a $20 million renovation in 2019, and it is a well-maintained resort.
I used 42,000 Marriott points on the day I stayed. For cash, a standard room is 349USD including tax, so a stay with points that day would be worth about 0.83 cents/point (USD).
According to the 2022 hotel points value table, this stay was slightly a better value for the points exchange, so I booked with points!
However, there are many other Marriott resorts in the Maldives that have a higher point value than this, so spending points at the Sheraton Maldives is not always the best option.
Cheack-In
The transfer from Hilton Amingiri Resort went smoothly, but due to boat departure time, we left the Velana International airport for the Sheraton Resort at 5:00 PM.
Speedboat fee is included in the hotel room rate, so you will not be charged extra.
A 15-minute journey from the Velana International airport will get you to the Sheraton.
The sea was rough and I got seasick, but the staff took care of me when I arrived at the resort and somehow I was able to check in.
Check-in is done at the Welcome Pavilion next to the pier, and a buggy cart took us to the villa.
Overwater Bungalow
Our villa is the closest to the Welcome Pavilion.
The villa is 54 square meters in size and has direct access to the sea, but the furniture was quite old.
The king size bed had a direct view of the beautiful Maldivian sea.
The balcony is a bit small, but there is a beach bed where you can relax or go snorkeling directly into the ocean!
Complimentary capsule coffee and tea (Dilmah) were available in the cabinet.
The bathroom is not that big, but I was satisfied with the beautiful clear ocean view from the bathtub!
Dental kit, vanity kit, mouth wash, body puff, shaving kit, sewing kit, shower cap, comb and body lotion are provided.
Facility
The resort’s only public pool is surrounded by restaurants and bars.
Beaches can be found all over the island. The staff cleaned the beaches early every morning, so you can expect turquoise waters and white sandy beaches every day!
The gym has a lot of equipment that is showing its age, but there was a good selection of free weights, including Smith machines.
Kids Club is located in the back, near the spa.
Snorkeling gear can be rented at the water sports center.
Sunrise in Sheraton Maldives
The sunrise at the resort usually starts around 6:00 a.m. Yes, It’s quite early in the morning but you don’t regret.
As if missing the sky, the morning sun rises and warms the darkness to a golden color.
Dinner at ChopstiX
With 7 restaurants at the Sheraton, including Thai, Chinese, Indian, Western and more, you will never get tired of eating!
We decided to go to ChopstiX for Chinese food among many different restaurants!
Hot and sour soba noodles have a strong vinegar taste.
I felt duck meat was overcook for Peking duck dish.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served at Feast, a buffet featuring a variety of hot Western, Asian, and Maldivian-style breakfasts.
Huge prosciutto!! which turned out to be my favorite food on the buffet here.
