Baba & Nyonya Heritage Museum was established in 1896. The house was once purchased by the Baba Chan family in 1861 and has been inhabited by four generations since.
Baba is for the guy and Nyonya is for the lady for the peranakan to call. Peranakan means the local who mixed with Chinese from native China and Indonesian who is not Muslim from the past. Baba Chan Cheng Siew is the second generation of peranakan chinese of Chan family who stayed in this peranakan house before and done a lot of furnishing to make it looks luxurious.
