The Majestic Malacca is one of the city’s few elegant luxury hotels, housed in a restored 1929 building with a modernized annex, the 54 rooms and suites are beautifully designed with luxurious marble bathrooms that exude an Old-World charm.
Booking
We booked Kristang Dine and Stay, which was the hotel’s offer.
This offer include
- Daily breakfast for two persons
- One complimentary Kristang 3-course dinner at The Mansion for two persons per
- Historical Walk, subject to availability on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only stay
Although, we couldn’t take advantage of the last offer due to stayed on weekday, RM540 +tax was great deal for a stay in such an elegant luxury hotel with 3-course dinner.
Check-in
The doorman greeted me with a smile and as I entered the hotel, I was mesmerized by the lobby with its Old World atmosphere, including plush sofas and leather chairs!
We arrived in Malacca early in the morning, so we arrived at the hotel around 8:00 AM.
Of course, we were not able to check in at that time, but they gave us a room to rest and we had tea and cookies there until we could check in at 1PM.
Deluxe Room King
The room design is similar to that of Cameron Highlands Resort, probably because they are both managed by the same YTL group.
The room on the 9th floor had a view of the The Shore Sky Tower and the river cruise!
In the drawer, a coffee and tea(Boh) set were provided.
The bathroom is separated from the guest room by a hardwood sliding door and features beautiful colonial white and black floor tiles, a clawfoot bathtub, and separate shower stall.
A toothbrush, shower cap, sanitary bag and vanity kit are provided.
Facility
Small swimming pool is located between main building and new wing.
Next to the pool is a small glass-walled fitness center.
The library is furnished with leather sofas and well-preserved books from the past.
Dinner at The Mansion
Located 2nd floor of main building, The Mansion offers an amazing diversity of kristang cuisine, a fusion of traditional dishes with Portuguese, Dutch, Malay, Indian, and Chinese influences.
The kristang dish was very rich in taste and each dish was large. The dessert neutralized the strong flavors and made for a satisfying dinner.
Breakfast
Breakfast will be a buffet at The Mansion, the same restaurant as last night’s dinner.
In addition to a wide variety of pastries, several traditional Malaysian and Western dishes are available.
