The Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur is a luxurious hotel located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The hotel has several dining options, a fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool, and a spa offering a variety of treatments. The hotel is conveniently located in the Golden Triangle, with easy access to major tourist attractions such as the Petronas Twin Towers and the KL Tower.
Booking
I decided to go to Kuala Lumpur on New Year’s Eve and was looking for a hotel in a good location for the countdown that would take place in the city. However, it was a few days before New Year’s Eve when we decided to go to Kuala Lumpur, and either almost all the hotels were fully booked, or the room rates were more than double the normal rates, so it took a long time to find the right hotel. Fortunately, we found a hotel that was located right in front of the Pavilion and the room rate was RM388 including breakfast, which was about the same or slightly higher than the regular rate.
Check-in
We took a Grab from the airport directly to the hotel. Since it was New Year’s Eve, I thought the traffic in the city would be busy, but it was smooth and we arrived at the hotel at 13:00. As soon as we arrived, the doorman welcomed us and went straight to the reception.
Once inside, I found the large marble staircase adding a touch of grandeur to the spacious lobby. Appealing and gorgeous antique pieces and wood carvings can also be seen throughout.
I wasn’t sure if I would be able to check in since we arrived earlier, but luckily we were able to check in early.
Studio Apartment
The room was spacious at 41 square meters, but the furniture and carpets were dated. Also, it was not clean.
What is being built in front of the hotel has been under construction ever since I stayed at the Pavilion Hotel before. But for now, the room have a Pavilion Hotel view.
Since it is an apartment, the kitchen is equipped and has a microwave and a large fridge, but there were no utensils or plates.
In the cabinet, coffee and tea set were provided.
Bathrooms were spacious and functional, but they are old too.
Toothbrushes, sanitary bag, vanity kit, shower cap and body cream were provided.
Facility
There was a large pool between the apartments and the hotel, with a kid’s pool next to it. The countdown and dinner buffet was being prepared by the pool.
The fitness center was next to the pool, with functional work out machines and yoga studio.
The glass-walled courtyard has an indoor garden and a waterfall where Koi are swimming!
Breakfast
Breakfast is served at the Warisan Cafe next to the courtyard.
Since I was up late last night for the countdown, I overslept and had breakfast around 8:30 in the morning, Yes, Around 8:30 is the busiest time for breakfast in any hotel.
Breakfast was an international and local buffet with a wide variety of foods. Among them, local dishes such as nasi lemak and roti chanai were really good. Perhaps that is why they ran out so quick every time, but I was a bit disappointed that they were not replenished right away.
