The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa offers 221 guestrooms and suites, luxurious private pool villas, and five-bedroom private pool villas, all with stunning views of the Andaman Sea or tropical gardens and unspoiled nature. The resort features traditional Minangkabau style clay roofs and is one of Langkawi’s most iconic landmarks.

Booking

Westin Langkawi is the first resort hotel booked after the lockdown in Malaysia. Since it was right after the lockdown was over, I was lucky to get a room for RM365, more than half of the RM800 room rate after the Malaysian border was opened. This resort is a member of Club Marriott Malaysia, which also offers free night voucher and Buy 1 Free 1 night stays, giving you a great deal if you use them.

Check-in

We took a car rental and drove to the hotel. It was a long way from the hotel gate to the entrance and we got a bit lost, but we managed to reach the entrance. In addition, it is a long way from the parking lot to the entrance, so if you have large luggage, it would be better to unload it at the entrance and then go to the parking lot!

Conclusion

Compared to the Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis, which are also Marriott hotels, the facilities are much older and appear to need improvement. There were a large number of ants in the rooms, probably due to the gaps in the rooms. The good thing is that the resort had a lot of activities that are unique to the resort. This would be a good resort for a family, not a couples trip.
