Located in the old town of Shuri, the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Naha Shuri Castle is the closest hotel to Shuri Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Booking
I booked this hotel because it was in an ideal location for sightseeing, with Shuri Castle about a 10-minute walk away. And the room rate at the time I reserved the twin-bed room was ¥14,618, which was ok for a tourist destination.
Check-in
Since the monorail station is a bit far from the station, I used the DiDi taxi from the station. It is an e-hailing app like Uber and Grab used in Okinawa. DiDi Taxi offers frequent promotions, so I was able to get to the hotel from the nearest monorail station for around ¥100.
As at the DoubleTree by Hilton Naha, there were many students on school trips in the hotel lobby, but the check-in area was separated and my check-in went smoothly!
The Diamond member benefits of this hotel are
- Happy Hour at Grand Castle Cafe 14:00 – 18:00
- Room upgrade
- Complimentary breakfast for 2
- 1,000 points per stay

Twin Premium Room
The twin premium room is small at 30 square meters, but it is on a higher floor and has a good view.
No taller buildings can be built near Shuri Castle, so the view from this hotel is good.
Of course, air purifier is provided.
Surprisingly, it’s also equipped with a face steamer!
A capsule coffee and tea set were provided.
The bathroom was small, with a combined bathtub and shower, but it was new and clean as it had been recently renovated.
Toothbrushes, sanitary bag, comb, vanity kit, shaving kit, shower cap and body cream were provided.
Facility
No gym, but there is a great pool for relaxing and a children’s pool, so it’s good for families!
Happy Hour at Grand Castle Cafe
Diamond members can enjoy free flow of alcohol and juice at the cafe next to the lobby from 2pm to 6pm.
Many choices from coffee, juice and alcohol. Local traditional sake “Awamori” also!!
Not only drinks but also snacks for alcohol and sweets for soft drinks are included.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served at Grand Castle Café & Dining.
There were western and Japanese cuisine buffet. The Japanese cuisine was mostly local Okinawan food and I enjoyed the local flavor a lot!!
