Located in Hachimantai, next to a 36-hole golf course and nestled in the mountains, the ANA Intercontinental Appi Kogen Resort is a great place to stay if you are looking for a relaxing getaway. If you have activities planned, it is well worth checking out the Appi Kogen Ski Resort and Dragon Eye.
Booking
I booked a package for ¥33,000, which included the club lounge and breakfast. The Crowne Plaza next door was around ¥20,000, so I was lucky to stay at the newly opened Intercontinental Hotel at a reasonable price. But to stay there during high season which is in winter, you need to spend at least ¥50,000.
Arrival
We rented a car and headed to the hotel and Valet came right to the entrance and parked the car for us!
A dark, designed corridor represents the beginning of a journey through a lush forest and leads to the Dragon Eye, a stunning artwork inspired by the melting snow at Kagami Pond near the summit of Hachimantai Mountain. It represents the beauty created by nature and leads to the Lobby Lounge.
We arrived at the hotel at 1:00 p.m. and were told that we could check in early, but we were offered afternoon tea at the lobby lounge, so we took it as is before heading to our room.
Classic Room
The hotel is new, opened in the first quarter of 2022, and yes all the furniture is brand new!
Air purifier is everywhere in Japan hotel.
Right front of the room is Crowne Plaza Hotel, with a Appi ski resort next to it. It will be convenient to go to the ski resort in winter.
On the cabinet, a capsule coffee and tea(Ronnefeldt) set were provided.
The bathroom was small, but I liked that there was a separate shower and bathtub.
Toothbrushes, shaving kit, sanitary bag, comb, vanity kit, sewing kit, shower caps, nail kit and body cream were provided.
Facility
The small fitness room has cardio and cable machines.
There is a locker room with direct access to the ski slopes from the hotel.
Onsen and sauna!! Although it was public, there were not many people using the onsen, so I enjoyed by myself!
Afternoon Tea and Evening Snack at the Lobby Lounge
Afternoon tea was served in the lobby lounge while waiting to check in!
The variety of teas available for afternoon tea in Japan is astonishing, and it is always a pleasure to enjoy a different kind of tea every time.
The scones and butter were especially good.
Evening snack offerings vary depending on the time of year, and when we visited, we were served rice-based foods and sake!

Breakfast
Buffet breakfast is served at Shiratsuyu next to the lobby lounge.
A la carte menu includes Japanese food, pancakes, etc.
The decorative porridge set was nice, with many different flavors in one porridge!
I liked the wild potato paste set the best! The combination of tuna and green laver is especially delicious and melts in your mouth!!
